Why We Started The Post Room
Written by: Erin Bakker

There is something about opening the mailbox and finding something that was actually meant for you. Not a bill. Not a coupon. Not another piece of junk mail. Something happy. That was really the beginning of The Post Room. We spend so much of our lives looking at screens now. Invitations arrive by text. Birthday wishes show up in notifications. Photographs live in camera rolls we rarely look through. Even the things meant to make us feel connected can start to feel strangely temporary. We wanted to make something slower. Something you could hold. Something that might end up tucked into a book, taped to a mirror, pinned to a bulletin board or saved in a drawer for no particular reason other than it made you happy.
So, what is The Post Room?
The Post Room is our monthly snail mail club from House of Blueprint.
Each month, subscribers receive a small collection of creative things in the mail. Think art, paper, stickers, postcards and other little surprises designed around whatever is inspiring us that month.

The first mailing goes out in October.
And because House of Blueprint is rarely a one-person operation, The Post Room has two very important representatives: HG and Barkley.
One is ten years old and full of ideas.
The other is a white Lab and Head of House.
Both take their jobs very seriously.
Why mail?
Because getting mail is still exciting.
Because kids should know what it feels like to send someone a postcard.
Because grandparents love getting something from their grandchildren.
Because adults need little surprises too.
Because creativity does not always need a purpose.
And because sometimes a five-by-seven envelope waiting in your mailbox can change the whole mood of an ordinary Tuesday.
That is really all we are trying to do.
Send a little happy.

The Post Room is $12.99 per month, and 10% of proceeds benefit Caring & Sharing of South Walton.
