Meet the Postmasters: HG + Barkley

Every respectable mailroom needs leadership.
Ours has HG and Barkley.
HG is ten.
Barkley is a white Labrador.
This arrangement makes perfect sense to us.
HG
HG has always been creative.
She makes things. Collects things. Gets ideas. Changes her mind. Makes something completely different. She is exactly the kind of person The Post Room is for.
One rainy Sunday recently, she invited a few friends over and started a Collage Club. There was no major plan.
Just kids, paper, scissors, glue and permission to make whatever they wanted.
Those are some of my favorite kinds of afternoons.
And honestly, they are part of why The Post Room exists. I want children to know that creativity does not have to be impressive.
It does not have to win anything. It does not even have to make sense. Sometimes it is simply fun to make something.
And then there is Barkley...
Officially, Barkley is the Head of House at House of Blueprint.
His responsibilities are still being determined.
They seem to involve sleeping near meetings, inspecting snacks and appearing whenever a camera comes out.
Naturally, he was an obvious choice for The Post Room.
Together, HG and Barkley are helping us dream up a monthly envelope full of small creative surprises.
They may not agree on everything. But they agree that getting mail should be fun.
We think they are onto something.
