Rabbit Plate No. 03: The Kitchen Is Clean
Today was one of those days where I was determined to get the house back under control before the weekend.
I had the dream team from Silva’s Cleaning here helping me get a grip on all of our messes, the counters were finally clear, the kitchen was looking good, and I was absolutely starving.
The last thing I wanted to do was cook something and immediately start messing everything back up.
Enter the Rabbit Plate.

This one came together from whatever I could pull out without turning lunch into a project: fruit, cheese, seeds, a few crunchy things, and some beets in the middle.
Nothing complicated. Nothing that required a pan. Nothing that left me with a sink full of dishes.
Rabbit Plates are not really intended to be pretty, but they almost always are.
I think it is because the food gets to speak for itself. The color of pineapple. The deep red of beets. The bright orange of dried apricots. White cheese. Green pumpkin seeds. There is something beautiful about seeing all of it sitting there without much fuss.
That simplicity is part of why I love them.
There are days when cooking is exactly what I want to do, and then there are days when I want the house clean more than I want a proper lunch. A Rabbit Plate lets both things be true.
It fed me, the kitchen stayed clean, and for at least a little while, everything in the house felt under control.
That counts as a win.
